At Little Swimmers we believe that your child will receive a higher quality of instruction if the individual levels of accomplishment are clearly defined.

Class Structure

Classes are 1 hour; starting at 5 minutes after the hour and ending 5 minutes before the hour, to ensure a smooth transition and offering a chance for instructor to communicate with parent and child about the just ended lesson.

First Step: Assessment

The structure of our levels enables our instructor to tailor each class to the precise needs of your child, so we offer a quick assessment of your child's abilities before classes start, to ensure the best fit between your child’s current ability and our classes. Because at Little Swimmers Swim School, we believe that your child will receive a higher quality of instruction if the individual levels of accomplishment are clearly defined.

Bubbler

  • Blows bubbles
  • Comfortable submerging
  • Front float alone 5 seconds
  • Introduction to dog paddle
  • Gets a ring from bottom step
  • Comfortable jumping into water

Beginner 1

  • Front float alone 10 seconds
  • Dog paddle 1/2 length of pool
  • Back kick 1/2 length of pool
  • Back float alone 5 seconds
  • Gets ring from 3 ft.
  • Introduction to Knee Dive

Beginner 2

  • Back float alone 10 seconds
  • Dog paddle length of pool with bobbing
  • Introduction to Freestyle
  • Back kick length of pool
  • Gets ring from 4 ft.
  • Knee Dive

Beginner 3

  • Freestyle 1/2 length of pool with bobbing
  • Introduction to Elementary Backstroke
  • Elementary Backstroke 1/2 length of pool
  • Introduction to Side Breath
  • Introduction to Front Dive
  • Dive for ring from 6 ft.
  • Tread water 15 seconds

Beginner 4

  • Intro to Side Breathing
  • Freestyle 1/2 length with Side Breathing
  • Intro to Elementary Back Stroke
  • Elementary Backstroke 1/2 length

Advanced Beginner

  • Freestyle length of pool with Side Breathing
  • Elementary Backstroke length of pool
  • Introduction to Breaststroke
  • Breaststroke 1/2 length of pool
  • Front Dive
  • Tread water for 30 seconds

Beginner Intermediate

  • 2 lengths of Freestyle
  • Breaststroke length of pool
  • Backstroke length of pool
  • Introduction to Butterfly
  • Butterfly 1/2 length of pool
  • Tread water for 1 minute

Intermediate 1

  • 3 lengths of Freestyle
  • 2 lengths of Breaststroke
  • 2 lengths of Backstroke
  • 1 length of Butterfly
  • Sidestroke
  • Water safety and survival

Intermediate 2

  • 6 lengths of Freestyle
  • 4 lengths of Breaststroke
